Who We Are
We are the Christian Youth Residence (hereinafter KDM) at St. Ludmila, founded on 31 August 1992. It is established and operated by the
Congregation of the School Sisters of St. Francis.
It is a residential-type youth home accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.
This specific accommodation model better reflects the needs of secondary school students living in a metropolitan environment. At the same time, it aligns with the concept of development seen in similar facilities abroad and can be defined as open, humanising, and democratic — putting educational practice into action in the spirit of Christian pedagogy.
We guide our students towards taking greater responsibility both for their own academic success and for upholding the basic standards of life in a shared residential facility. We strive to minimise personal pressures that can, in many cases, hinder concentration on studies — through spiritual guidance, a career assistant, and a teaching assistant.
Our Educational Philosophy
Dear prospective residents, dear parents, dear girls and boys,
We would like to introduce you to our approach to education at the youth residence. Our educational practice is grounded in Christian values and Catholic principles, with an emphasis on responsibility, independence, and mutual cooperation. Because the individual development of each student's potential is important to us, we provide a level of personalised care that goes beyond what is typically offered at other boarding facilities. A spirit of mutual trust and support among all parties involved is therefore essential to the success of our educational approach. A prerequisite for admission to the Christian Youth Residence at St. Ludmila is acceptance of our individually focused educational approach, agreement to the monitoring of academic results and school attendance, and a commitment to full transparency regarding all matters that may affect a student's upbringing — including information about their state of health (including any mental health difficulties).
Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to working with you.
