Our Mission
The Christian Youth Residence and School Canteen at St. Ludmila is a church educational institution providing accommodation and meals for secondary and higher vocational school students from more than 50 different schools across Prague. It is founded and operated by the
Congregation of the School Sisters of St. Francis.
The mission of the youth residence
is to create a friendly environment where everyone has a place. We are open to all young people regardless of faith, nationality, or social background. We pay special attention to those who find themselves — or have found themselves — on the margins for any reason: whether they are children from care homes, in foster care, or those who do not have a safe place at home. In doing so, we build an inclusive community at KDM that brings together students from different cultural, linguistic, and social backgrounds, preparing young people for the diversity of the world. We guide them in gaining new social experiences, in personal growth, and in taking responsibility for their own lives.
The mission of the hostel
is to provide accommodation with a homely atmosphere for visitors to Prague from the Czech Republic and abroad, and to support events with an educational or Christian dimension. The proceeds from this activity are used entirely to fund the primary educational mission.
